The client
The City of Whitehorse is a local government area in Victoria, Australia in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It has an estimated residential population of 172,000+.
Whitehorse City Council (WCC) operated a legacy architecture to manage and maintain a standard operating environment using a combination of System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Group Policy. Device Management was limited to Windows devices, and managing Endpoints using SCCM was complex and time consuming.
WCC partnered with Empyrean to establish a Modern Workplace management platform using Windows Intune. Utilising Intune, WCC can dynamically manage Endpoint devices across Windows, MAC, iOS and Android while also ensuring Endpoints comply with defined organisation security baselines and policies.
Endpoint management improvements
Based on both device or user profiles, applications and polices are dynamically distributed and new device setup is automated using Intune Autopilot. By simply signing in to provisioned devices, Autopilot automates the distribution of required software and policies based on the user’s role within the business.
Coupled with Azure Active Directory and Conditional Access, WCC can utilise Endpoint Compliance against defined policies to ensure Endpoints are in a healthy state before connecting to corporate resources and automate remediation of Endpoints that are non-compliant before allowing access to corporate services and data.
The Modern Workplace architecture implemented by Empyrean has delivered a framework that simplifies and enhances Endpoint Management and Security while also freeing up internal resources to focus on initiatives delivering greater business value.
